Endorsements
Tom O'Mara
I am very pleased to offer my endorsement to Les Baugh as he seeks to become our newest County Supervisor. My reasons for supporting Les began with a time in Anderson's history that we all wish had never happened, namely the cross-burning which took place in the Anderson Heights neighborhood in January, 2004. I was so impressed to learn that on the evening of this tragic event, Les went along with the Vice-Mayor Keith Webster and Chief of Police Neil Purcell to the home of the victim, prayed with her, and stated in unequivocal terms how much they wanted her to stay in Anderson, and that they were going to do everything in their power to right this horrible wrong.
I know that this meant a great deal to the victim, who has in fact stayed in Anderson. To have a public servant making this kind of extra effort, valuing the relationship and the family, is a great indication to me of the kind of person I want in a leadership position. Les went on to lead a march of over 600 people which eloquently expressed the community's outrage and opposition to the cross-burning, coordinated the development of new city limit signs for Anderson, participated in a PBS documentary on this incident, and watched as justice was done. He played a major role in taking what was a very low point in the city's history, and turned it into an opportunity for growth as a community.
I can't help but feel that having a leader of this caliber working at this time for District 5 and Shasta County could be critical. The current and planned growth in South County will require a balanced and involved approach, and someone who will listen carefully to all sides on an issue. Les truly understands the concept of being a good public servant, and is eager to fulfill this role.
More recently, I have had the chance to work with Les on the Mercy Medical Center Advisory Council. I know that his attention to detail, ability to represent the district and the county as a whole, and the same emphasis on the importance of relationships shown above will result in a committed and dynamic leadership. I hope you will join me in supporting Les Baugh for Supervisor!

It is rare that I endorse or publicly promote political candidates as I make it my business to know and encourage them all in their public service regardless of their politics.
I am making an exception in this case as I know the candidate well enough to commend him to any caring citizen as a man of integrity and demonstrated leadership who will represent the people of our county fairly, justly and with courage. His personal values, priorities and understanding of the issues facing our growing community will serve well the people and future development of our community.
I am pleased to commend Les Baugh to you for your support in his candidacy for County Supervisor. His values, vision and principled leadership are exemplary. We have many politicians and few statesmen. Les is a statesman quality leader.
Even if you do not live in District 5 please consider supporting him financially and inviting your friends that live or work in his District to support him. If you have an email list of friends please encourage their help to elect Les as he will serve with distinction and fairness all the people of Shasta County. Les will work to make our community safer and a more caring quality of life place in which to work and live.
I think of the words Edmond Burke say it well, "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing". Thankfully we have a few good men and women who are willing, like Les, to accept the challenge of public service and root out injustice in both the public and private sector. Please be along side for him. This is a pivotal time and kairos moment. Exercise your right and responsibility to shape the future of our county in electing Les Baugh as the outstanding candidate to represent us all as Shasta County Supervisor. Thank you for your consideration.

He was a White House appointee to the Senior Executive Service and served in the Reagan Administration.)
Why Les Baugh is the clear choice for Shasta County Supervisor District Five .
His strong commitment to the citizens and businesses of our county. Les has served as an Anderson Planning Commissioner, Anderson Fire Protection District Board Member, Anderson Chamber President, Shasta County Local Agency Formation Commission and on various community boards. He currently serves on the Mercy Medical Center Advisory Board and as Council liaison for the Southwest Redevelopment District.
His support of community through his relationship with the Chamber of Commerce, Anderson Community, church that he founded and actively leads, senior citizen programs and his diligent work for the City of Anderson as a Councilman for 8 years of which 2 he served as Mayor.
Les owns a small business so he understands first hand the struggles our small business owners face and can be counted on to be a strong advocate and representative of the business community.
His sense of family is an inspiration. Les is clearly an excellent father and husband. The relationships Les has with his wife and kids is obviously one of mutual admiration and respect; when together there is constant laughter and good will between them and those in their company.
Les is one of the most honest, good natured and hard working people I know and our County would be very fortunate indeed to have his insight, enthusiasm and sense of fairness as one of it's leaders.
Les can be trusted to always serve our district with only our best interest in mind. He will not be driven by special interest or monetary motivations. Les understands that our County is growing rapidly and a fresh open-minded approach must be taken to see that our growth is well planned so that we might leave the leaders of tomorrow with a thriving community and enjoyable quality of life.
Les is not a "fence sitter"; his decisions are well thought out and based on research and professional input. Once a decision is made Les will stand by it.
Les Baugh is the only real choice for District Five Supervisor

Dear Les,
I would like to thank you for attending our council meeting on March 23rd. I believe you interviewed very well and answered our Delegates questions with an openness and honesty rarely found in a candidate for political office in Shasta County. I appreciated your willingness to truly listen and directly address each of our concerns. Many elected officials forget they represent their entire community, not just those they agree with. I firmly believe you will do your very best to represent our entire community.
It is for the aforementioned reasons that I am honored to announce our council has unanimously voted to endorse your candidacy for Supervisor of District 5.
This being a political year, the affiliates will be busy with a multitude of offices and ballot measures across the state. However, if there is anything we can do to assist you, please let us know. We wish you the very best.
Sincerely,
Melvin L. Breshears
